The Summer Drop

There is a particular hour in summer when the light turns everything the same color. Warm. Sandy. The kind of tone that sits on stone walls and wooden tables and the inside of a pottery bowl. These pieces began there: in that light, with those colors. The drop works across four tones: a warm clay, close to terra cotta. A soft cream that leans toward bone. Sage, the gray/green that appears in dry gardens at the end of July. And a quiet brown, the color of worked earth. Each earring in this collection is a different shape. The color is what holds them together. They wear well separately, one piece at a time, with whatever the day asks for. Formed by hand from polymer clay. Finished matte. Made in a small batch that will not repeat. The hand stayed in every piece.
